Description
The first Russian space catastrophic mail.An official envelope was prepared by Roscosmos (Russian Federal Space Agency) for “Soyuz MS-10” mission to the International Space Station in 2018. The “Soyuz MS-10” spaceflight aborted shortly after launch due to a failure of the “Soyuz-FG” launch vehicle boosters. During the accident and the working of the launch escape system, the Orbital module was parted from the landing capsule. So, the orbital module fell to the Earth from a height of 50 kilometers!!! The very much deformed and oblate orbital module was found by the special rescue team in the steppes of Kazakhstan. Later on, several “Roscosmos” covers were put out from the deformed Orbital module and were given to cosmonaut
Aleksey Ovchinin
, commander of the "Soyuz MS-10" spacecraft.
The cover was handwritten by cosmonaut Aleksey Ovchinin:
"
11.10.2018 this envelope was on board the "Soyuz MS-10" spacecraft inside the Orbital module
"
Russian abbreviation БО means an official technical term Бытовой Отсек (in English - Orbital module). In spite of the "Soyuz MS-10" crew landed safety inside the landing capsule, the other parts of the rocket-carrier and the "Soyuz MS-10"spcecraft fell to Earth from a Hight of 50 kilometers, so the philatelic material which was in the Orbital compartment may be consider to be
the first Russian space catastrophic mail
